Your comms AI chief of staff
Hello friends,
Happy Masters Week to those who celebrate ⛳️. One thing you might not know about me: I married into a golf family. Both of my in-laws were professional golfers. There's so much hardware in their house that the guest bathroom mouthwash holder is a championship trophy. Normal.
Unfortunately, my sports prowess begins and ends with loving to watch. I've never broken 100 on the course, but I can say I belong to my married family — my initials are GLF, after all. (Looks a lot like golf, no?)
(For any Jim Nantz friends out there, watch this and then this. Life highlight.)
Ok, that's enough about golf. Let's group chat. 👇️
🤖 AI Comms Chief of Staff: Resident OTR AI + Comms extraordinaire Christine Nguyen just dropped her AI Chief of Staff Builder: an app that creates AI project instructions for your comms work.
⚖️ The pendulum swings: Comms AI experimentation is fun (see above). But only if we don't lose ourselves in the process (see below). Head of Comms Scott Steinhardt shares an honest review following 8 months of build mode. Worth a read to keep perspective.
😔 To what end? One day after OpenAI's Fidji Simo's detailed the TBPN acquisition, she announced a medical leave of absence. That was just hours away from her counterpart, OpenAI CMO Kate Rouch, who also shared she was leaving for medical reasons.
💬 I'm not here to patronize executives. They are adults who can make their own decisions. But I can't help but notice both executives are women. They both openly admitted they ignored taking care of their health for the job. They are not role models, they are tech execs. But I still feel sad they allowed themselves to get to this point. I'm rooting for a quick recovery, and some critical thought as to what matters most in life.
✍️ They did the thing: The best marketing a social firm can do is a viral social post. In comms, it's quality writing. While I'm still eating up the data in this report (stock value from exec thought leadership? yes please!), the intro letter is a must-read. A firm claiming to create quality thought leadership creating quality thought leadership? Groundbreaking. (I'm actually not being sarcastic, but also always down with a Devil Wears Prada reference.)
